The Daniel Defense Rail Interface System (RIS II) was designed at the request of the United States Special Operations Command (SOCOM) for the SOPMOD II program. SOCOM had a specific requirement for a free float M203 solution and Daniel Defense responded, designing a revolutionary product to meet the government’s need. The Daniel Defense RIS II allows the individual operator to free float the M203 grenade launcher without additional parts. As important, special tools are not required to mount the M203 grenade launcher. This was accomplished by integrating all of the needed parts to free float the M203 into the rail itself. The Daniel Defense RIS II is to be used in conjunction with the MK12 Low Profile Gas Block.

Solid handguard but not a perfect replica

The handguard is solid, the correct shape and close enough in dimensions (I didn’t measure it), and comes with barrel nut spacers. It feels like a quality product, installs properly and the lockup once installed is pretty much perfect.

The one gripe I have is that the upper part of the handguard doesn’t have the screw mountings to free float the M203 like the real one does. I’m not sure if any replica handguards do - I think, from the pictures, the Madbull one does - but that’s what I bought the handguard for and it doesn’t do it.

Top quality product. Only slight issue is the two tabs that fit onto the top part of the receiver are wider than the receiver itself. Can be fixed by putting sight over the handguard and receiver.
