The Ranger Body Armor (RBA) was a U.S. military equipment system developed for the operational requirements of the U.S. Army’s 75th Ranger Regiment during the 1990s. It became one of the most recognizable pieces of equipment associated with American Rangers during the late Cold War and post-Cold War era.
RBA was famously used by members of the 75th Ranger Regiment during Operation Gothic Serpent in Somalia in 1993, including the Battle of Mogadishu, which later became widely known through the book and film Black Hawk Down. The U.S. Army confirms that Ranger Battalions were equipped with the RBA system in time for the 1993 Mogadishu operation.
During the 1990s and early 2000s, RBA-style equipment was also seen among U.S. military personnel during deployments and operations in locations including the Balkans, Kosovo, Haiti and Iraq. The 75th Ranger Regiment itself participated in major operations including Operation Just Cause in Panama, Operation Desert Storm, Somalia, Kosovo, Afghanistan and Iraq.
This replica captures the distinctive Ranger Body Armor appearance with Woodland M81 camouflage, making it a great choice for military collectors, historical displays, cosplay, airsoft and gel blaster loadouts, particularly for recreating the iconic U.S. Ranger look of the 1990s and early 2000s.
